How are you
I have a chance to learn different language from my friend. Therefore, I want to take a note before I forget it.
Sa-lon = hello / hi
Ke Va a hal = how are you?

My work in our lab
The work for me to do in the lab is fabrication of fiber-based near-field optical probes, which are used for implementing high resolution Raman spectroscopy.
In addition to the fabrication process includes chemical etching and metal coating under vacuum conditions. We aim to measure directly the nanometer-sized amplitude of the NSOM probe when the probe is mounted on a Tuning Fork. We plan to use the "razor blade" method. By moving the razor blade across the image an intensity profile is recorded. This method allows simultaneous measurement of both the tuning fork output signal and the ac component of the optical intensity. Alternative we could use an interferometer set up.
A particular application of this work is to monitor, via nano-Raman, the eventual liquid-solid phase transition that mesoscopic fluid films undergo when subjected to confinement (between the NSOM probe and a solid substrate.

(HW) Report of Seminar-How long will LCDs remain the dominant display technology?
This is brief summary of my report about an overview of LCD technology and competing approaches to flat panel displays.
As technology improves, the displays of electric devices are changing to thin and light monitors. Therefore Liquid Crystal Displays are replacing the big and heavy CRT monitors. The structure of LCD is composed of two sheets of specially treated glass such as Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), contains a liquid crystal solution, and a pair of polarizers.

Bye 2013 Hello 2014
To begin with 2013 I flight back Taiwan to visit my family, and we had good time there.
Time fly, it's already one year nearly.
At the end of this year I got my Current Term GPA~ 3.83, and my professor took me out for dinner to celebrate.

Summary of science lecture
This was a summary of science lecture, which took place in the First Congregational Church.
(這個科學講座是因為學校有贊助,所以我們可以自由索票然後再到學校附近的教堂去聽演講。)
The speaker of " A Future of Radical Abundance : Nanotechnology Transforming Material Civilization" was Eric Drexler.

(HW) Report of Brain-Computer Interface
A Brain-Computer Interface might be totally fictitious in the past, but nowadays this technology is amazing at helping people with disabilities. Moreover, BCI uses the RSVP keyboard to make letter selections based on joint evidence from a language model.
• How BCI works: Chips are placed into patient’s brain and using the P300 response, the human brain can directly operate the computer.
• Advantage: BCI provides the speed and accuracy needed for people with disabilities to communicate. There is no zero probability in the language model.

Report of Seminar- CMOS and Beyond: Future Device Technoloy
As the advanced device technology is improving the quality of the MOSFET has become much better than older one. From this seminar I learned that there are three major way to consider the producing process in future devices.
• Function: Design future; Nano-relay architecture; Key photonic elements
• Density: System in package; Vertical
