Since winter storm is coming to Northwest Oregon, our campus closes at 2pm this afternoon.
When I was in Taiwan, I only got " typhoon day off". Now I got " Winter Storm day off", and most of students head home as soon as possible.
It is a totally different feeling to me. The 20 minutes walking in snow feels like one hour.
The following info. is from Trimet:
Buses:
All buses are running on chains this morning, either tire chains or drop down chains that are installed on more than 200 buses. Buses with chains will be running slower as they cannot go more than travel 25 miles per hour, and maybe slower depending on road and traffic conditions. Express buses will serve all stops along the route. Two bus lines are canceled for the morning. They are the Line 43-Taylors Ferry and Line 156-Mather Rd.
MAX:
We've had MAX trains running overnight to keep the trackway and overhead wire clear. Switch issues have cleared up but as a precaution MAX Green and Yellow lines continue to run on the Blue and Red alignment along Morrison/Yamhill, and along 1st Ave. From downtown Portland, board any Blue/Red/Green/Yellow eastbound train on Yamhill or 1st, and transfer at Rose Quarter if necessary. To travel along the Transit Mall, transfer at Pioneer Courthouse Square to regular bus service.
以往在台灣放颱風假大部份的人都會想要三五好友邀約一起去看電影，現在在這裡因為北極風暴，讓學校又是電話通知也發出電郵提醒學生今日學校提早關閉，感覺上正值期中考周的學生們都想趁暴風雪尚未變強之前火速回家，雖然要宅在家但總是要想一下若天氣持續惡化三餐如何解決，還好我的冰箱有常備冷凍蔬菜，儲物櫃中也有泡麵，不用在狂風暴雪中走路去超市準備儲糧，看來可以趁撿到的短暫假期好好溫書，努力寫作業了。
